Block Plane

Next work will be C bout ribs preparation: thickness and bending. They won’t be glued. It’s just checking to see if the ribs can fit to the corner blocks at this point. If it does, the corner blocks will be replaced with spruce. Then finally glued with ribs.

There is another task I need before moving on. It’s the block plane. Ordered through Dictum, a German dealer, I studied the usage of the tool with YouTube videos and found it needs some modification.

Stanley, the manufacturer of the plane seems to be a big company with history and reputation. But indeed there are comments on the Internet that some people state it is a cheap one.

It’s not that the plane Is completely broken from the start but some precision must be corrected. Thankfully, there are DIY info everywhere today. I posted a question at DIYnot forum where kind people gave me advices. I will handle this issue. It’s OK as far as the item was not a junk.

I got additional thread winding core rods from a spinning mill. I had only ten, and at least 40 of them will be needed when gluing the top and the back all around the violin body. It will be far ahead, though.
