Rib Bending Test

This first attempt on rib bending with the hot iron wasn’t bad, I guess.

When I use a machine for first time, I often doubt if it explodes. That makes me nervous. The heat iron has to gain its temperature up to 220 degree Celsius that can’t burn even a piece of paper. But somewhat it makes me anxious.

Anyways, the heat iron was ready. I prepared a piece of white wood instead of real maple for testing purposes. Some water soaked into the woods and applied to the iron with the bending belt. It was more pressure force needed to bend the wood. A little worried if the wood broke but it didn’t. The wood was enough bent to be fit in the C bout. Indeed I realized the block wasn’t shaped straight enough when the contact between the block and the rib had a little gap,

Everything wasn’t fulfilled but it clarified what to be done. I will make correction on the blocks and try again.
