La Mer by Claude Debussy

This weblogs is started as record of my violin making. Making and playing a violin may seem like completely separate skills, but I believe that knowing about the instrument musically helps making, repairing and restoring it.

I personally like to listen and play jazz. Meanwhile, I love many of classical master pieces. Though I don’t work on the violin music in classical way, I’m absolutely positive that exploring the world of violin can’t be achieved without classical music.

Luckily I was allowed to join Okinawa Symphony Orchestra (OSO) as a member of second violin. The next concert which is my second attempt will be taking place in October 2025. One of the program is La Mer by Claude Debussy. Unlike Beethoven’s Symphony No.6 we played last year, this Impressionism piece is totally a mess for me. The more listening to the music, the better understanding the musical composition. It’ll take s while to be able to play entire part in tempo as well as controlling the violin properly.

I’m enjoying the music one the aspects of music and musical instrument technically. Until I’m OK with the orchestra thing, I may be slowing down for violin making process. Its not a neglect. It it’s important for violin making as well.
